Biography

Biography

 

Andrea qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1984. She commenced work with Lancashire & South Cumbria Critical Care Network in 2001 as Lead Nurse with a responsibility for improving quality nursing care, having experience in surgery and as a senior nurse and Practice Development Nurse in Intensive Care. She has a MA qualification in Health Service Management and has utilised her leadership experience in roles at regional, national and international level. As Chair for CC3N (Critical Care National Network Nurses), she contributed to the production of both National Standards and Competencies for critical care education.

Andrea assumed the role of Network Director in 2010 and is committed in her work to ensure critical care patients receive the best care and outcomes from the service across the region; she is currently the Co-Chair of the National Critical Care Networks of England, NI & Wales Directors group.


David has been a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust) since 1999. He assumed the role as its critical care unit Clinical Lead in 2006 and commenced as Medical Lead with the Network in December 2014. Having recently completed the Mary Seacole Programme for NHS leadership, he feels this provided a fascinating insight into the world of leadership, and he believes many concepts and ideas can be of value in his Network role. David looks forward to representing his medical colleagues at network, regional and national forums to improve critical care services.

Claire qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1992 and has spent the majority of her nursing career working in critical care, at local and regional level. She has held service improvement roles at Network level and has also worked as a clinical educator, night practitioner, Matron for Infection Prevention and Control and more recently was Head of Patient Safety at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust prior to joining the Network on a permanent basis in January 2014 as  Quality Improvement Lead Nurse. Claire has an MSc qualification in Professional Practice (Critical Care) and has completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control at Leeds University. Nationally, Claire has previously held the position of Coordinator of the IV forum for the Infection Prevention Society.

Dorothy commenced her role as Administrator in 2010, providing administrative, secretarial and data support to the Network Team.

She has key responsibilities for organising meetings, local events and conferences ensuring that the necessary members of the Team and our key members from the various organisations are kept informed of our activity.
